01 The daily loop

Three things today.
The right three.

Every morning, Polaris ranks the top three things you should do — not the top fifty. Each task comes with the why: which deadline it serves, what signal triggered it, how long it'll take.

  • Ranked by impact, not chronology — high-leverage outreach beats busy-work always
  • Time-boxed — every task has a real minute estimate (and a snooze button when life happens)
  • Tone you pick — calm mentor, direct coach, or peer who keeps it casual

02 Opportunities matched

Research labs, summer programs, contests — before you knew they existed.

Polaris reads what you've actually built — your activities, your papers, your grades — and surfaces the opportunities that fit. Every match has a score, a deadline, and a reason.

  • Match score built from your real work, not your zip code or GPA percentile
  • Why it matters in plain English — "she took 2 high-schoolers last year"
  • Effort labeled honestly — "outreach" vs "200-word essay" vs "$0 application + 3 essays"

Cold-email a professor
without the dread.

Polaris finds the right researcher, reads three of their recent papers, and drafts the email like a peer — opening with the science, not a paragraph about yourself. You review, hit send.

  • Per-recipient research — the draft cites their specific paper, not "your impressive work"
  • AI suggestions inline — "cut 'I would love to', too soft"
  • Voice editing — talk to your phone, Polaris rewrites the right line

Dr. Lin,

Last year I ran an in-situ hybridization assay on zebrafish embryos. Your 2024 paper on Wnt signaling came up over and over in my reading.

One thing I couldn't figure out: how do you handle false positives from background staining at later somite stages?

Stop reading every email.
Just see the action.

Connect Gmail or Outlook. Polaris reads only college, professor, and program emails. Promos, group chats, and newsletters never reach you. What's left comes with the action already extracted.

  • Drafts replies for you — professor replies, deadline extensions, RSVPs
  • Extracts what's hidden — dates, slots, prompts, missing rec letters
  • Quiets 80% — you'll forget your old inbox even existed

  • Auto-pulled from your inbox + every college's portal + the programs you're tracking
  • Backplanned — a Dec 14 essay gets broken into outline-by-the-7th, draft-by-the-10th, edit-by-the-12th

07 Activity log · Common-App-ready

Your activities, logged.
Common App, half-done.

Polaris pulls activities from your voice intro, emails, and a quick chat — then tracks hours-per-week as you go. By senior year, your Common App activity log isn't a frantic September project. It's mostly already there.

  • Common App format — position, hours/week, weeks/year, the description box, all there
  • Volunteer hours that don't slip — log a session in 5 seconds; weekly total auto-fills
  • Honest numbers — Polaris only logs what you actually tell it. Recommenders and your app will match.

Closing the deal

Supplements, rec letters, score sends, interview prep. Polaris keeps every school's progress visible so nothing slips.

Onboarding

Just talk.
I'll do the typing.

The setup is a conversation, not a form. Ramble about what you've been into, what made you mad in class, the YouTube rabbit hole you fell into last weekend. Polaris turns that into your tag cloud — and the tag cloud feeds everything else.

● policy ● environment ● debate ● research-curious + 12 more

For parents

Be informed.
Without being annoying.

The Family plan gives you visibility into your kid's progress — never their inbox or essays. We give you the conversation starters; you have the conversation.

What you see.
What you don't.

Polaris is for the student first. The parent dashboard is intentionally light — enough to know they're on track, not enough to micromanage.

1
You see progress, streaks, deadline radar, AP averages. Updated automatically as your kid uses the app.
2
You don't see their emails, essay drafts, professor outreach, or chat with the AI coach. Ever.
3
Sunday digest: 3 conversation starters for the week. Things to ask about — not lecture about.

Connect Gmail or Outlook if you want inbox automation. Optional: iOS Screen Time, GitHub, parent invite. Skip anything; turn it on later.

3

Wake up to a plan

FAQ

The questions you'd ask first.

How do you handle activity hours? Can you verify them?
Honestly — no, we don't verify them, and we won't pretend to. Polaris pulls activity entries from your voice intro + emails + your own input, then tracks hours-per-week as you log them. Common App expects student-reported activity logs, and so do we. The value is that by the time you sit down to fill out the Common App, your log is mostly already there — not that we've spied on your time.
Is Polaris actually reading my email?
Only what you let it. When you connect Gmail or Outlook, we scope access to college, professor, and program emails. Promos, group chats, and personal threads are filtered before they reach our servers. You can revoke access in two taps from Settings.
Do you train your AI on my data?
No. Your emails, essays, activities, and chats with the coach are used only to personalize your plan. We have a one-page privacy promise you can read in plain English.
What if I'm not applying to elite schools?
Polaris works exactly the same. Your match scores reflect your schools — state flagships, regional privates, community college transfers. The product is "get into a college that fits you," not "stalk Ivies."
Will college admissions count this as "AI"?
Polaris drafts outreach emails and tracks your work — it doesn't write your essays. Cold-emailing professors is a normal student practice, with or without AI. We're a planner, not an essay mill. Final words on the page are yours.
What grades is this for?
Built for grades 10 through 12. The plan adapts — a 10th grader sees "stack two strong activities," an 11th grader sees "apply to RSI by January," a 12th grader sees "Brown supplement due in 6 days."
Can my counselor see what I'm doing?
Only if you invite them. The Family plan adds a counselor-light view (similar to the parent view) — progress, deadlines, blockers. They cannot read your emails, essays, or AI coaching.
When does it launch?
iOS first, January 2026. Android two months later. Join the waitlist and you'll get an invite within the first 48 hours of launch, with the first month of Plus free.
